Company History

Artistic Productions is owned and operated by Merrylin and Bob Brichmann. Services include: disc jockey, emcee, mobile music, ceremony and reception sound and lighting, special event planning, event coordination, microphones, uplighting, DVD/slide show productions and projection, monograms, themed events, referral and general consultation. Combining services and packages varies with each client and event.

We are based in San Diego, California and service all of San Diego County. We have also provided services in other parts of California, Mexico and various states throughout the US. While we field over 1200 inquiries each year for our services, we actually engage 225-250 clients each year. We are not overwhelmed and our clients get their deserved attention for making their event unique and successful.

We are professional Disc Jockeys, Emcees and Event Coordinators. We are experts in event planning and specialize in weddings, corporate parties and family functions. Our professionalism, personalities and experience are our strengths.

Founded in 1990, we have established ourselves as one of the more reputable and experienced entertainment companies in southern California. Most of our business comes from past client and industry referrals. We've earned a great reputation that we're very proud of.

We specialize in wedding ceremonies and receptions, but also book everything from corporate and convention functions to family picnics and birthday/anniversary parties. We've done rehearsals, store grand openings, fashion shows, charitable auctions and school/youth dances. We're very versatile and able to travel.

Merrylin Brichmann

Merrylin hails from the eastern suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, but was born in Alhambra, California. Mer entered the disc jockey, emcee and special event field in 1988 after being recruited and trained by Bob Brichmann. Merrylin is a professional Disc Jockey, Emcee and Event Coordinator. Mer has performed in both night clubs and as a disc jockey at special events in both Ohio & California.

As an entertainer, Merrylin performs annually for wedding receptions, a variety of corporate functions and family parties. She is involved with over 100 events each year. With over 15 years of experience, the key to Mer's success is her enthusiasm, organization and ability to create the elegant or fun event anticipated by you. You tell her the style of event you seek and she'll make it happen!

As a disc jockey and emcee, Mer offers enthusiasm, professionalism, a fun performance, organization and planning for all her clients. She is an expert in the field of weddings with many industry connections and ideas. Mer will help create the perfect schedule of events and mix of music to ensure the success of your event. Should you have things already planned, she'll easily work well with your established itinerary and the other professionals (caterer, photo, coordinator, etc.). That's what a professional does.

Mer provides wedding consultation and coordination services for dozens of brides and grooms each year on either an hourly basis or per event basis (rehearsal, ceremony, etc.). Mer can also assist with invitation and social announcements. Mer can be booked for this in combination with her DJ/Emcee services or separately. In Merrylin, you can trust a seasoned wedding expert to take the work and worry away from you, your family and friends and help make your event run smoothly.

Merrylin is very active in the San Diego business, special event and wedding community. Mer has been an active member of San Diego NACE (National Association of Catering Executives) for over 12 years and is once again a member of the Board as the 2008 Affiliate Representative. Mer is involved with local industry networking groups, too. Mer is a founding member of Weddings of Distinction and is the 2008 Membership Director for the group. Bob Brichmann

Bob spent his early youth in southern New Jersey, outside Philadelphia. He was raised, though, in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. Bob entered the world of entertainment while attending The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. In the early 80's, Bob worked in radio, concert promotion, night clubs and for private parties and weddings as a mobile disc jockey.

After graduating with a BA in Journalism, Bob began opening markets and offices throughout the U.S. for a national entertainment company. Transferring to San Diego in 1989, Bob went solo and formed Artistic Productions with Merrylin in February 1990.

Bob performs for over 100 weddings, corporate and convention groups and family parties annually. He offers over 20 years of entertaining charm, providing the perfect mix of fun, music, professionalism and class to each of his events. Without being a clown or standup comic, Bob will interact with your group to the degree you wish and help create a great time for everyone.

As an emcee, Bob has a great public speaking and announcing voice. He is very organized, detail-oriented and reliable. Couple these traits with a quick wit and a thorough knowledge of all types of music and Bob is awesome at not only planning events, but making them successful. People put a lot of faith in him to help make their events memorable and he delivers.

Bob has performed throughout Ohio and southern California. These days he focuses mainly on San Diego County, but he can travel. He has entertained in the cities of Toronto, Chicago, Buffalo, Los Angeles, Orange County, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Lexington, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Phoenix and assorted other areas. Bob also moonlights as a freelance writer for various local, regional and national publications. He has been a contributing writer and industry expert for San Diego Style Weddings Magazine for over a decade.
